If you have never attended, planned a funeral, there are some basics for which you should know.

Q. Flowers or Not A. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home or the family home. These may be sent before or after the services. If the family asks that donations be given in lieu of flowers, please honor their wishes. |

Q. Food A. Providing food for the family and visitors for a few days after the death is very welcome and appropriate if they are easy to prepare. |

Q. Phone Calls A. If you live out of town, place a short call as soon as possible to offer your sympathies. |

Q. Visitation. How Long? A. You only need to stay for a short time, 15 minutes or so to express your sympathy. |

Q. What To Wear A. Colorful clothing is no longer inappropriate; HOWEVER, whatever worn should be in good taste and show respect for the family. If you are unsure what to wear, check with a family member or person at the funeral home. |

Q. When Should I Visit The Family A. As soon as you learn of the death, you should visit the family or funeral home to offer symphathy. |
